Privacy notice
DRAFT: have this checked by a solicitor or adviser before launch, and fill in the [brackets].
Sleigh Bell Stories is a trading name of Gary Cooper, a sole trader, [address]. We've registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) as a data controller; our registration number will be shown here once issued. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
- From you (the parent or carer): your email address, your first name, and your payment details, which are handled by Stripe. We never see your card number.
- About your child, only what you choose to tell us: first name, age, pet, best friend's first name, hobbies, things they're proud of, what they've asked for, and things Santa shouldn't mention.
- Replies you send to Santa (voice recordings or typed text) and tips you send us.
We never ask for surnames, addresses, schools or photos of children.
How we use it
We use this information only to write and send your child's personal Santa messages, and to email you about them. Our lawful basis is to perform our contract with you. Your child's replies and your tips are also checked automatically, to keep the service safe for children.
Who processes it for us
- Anthropic (Claude) writes and safety-checks the messages.
- ElevenLabs creates Santa's voice and turns voice replies into text.
- Stripe takes payments.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Railway hosts the service.
We use these services on settings that don't allow your data to be used to train their models. Some of them process data in the United States, under appropriate safeguards.
Keeping children safe
If a reply or tip suggests a child may be unsafe, a member of our team will read it. In rare cases we may contact you, or the appropriate authorities if a child may be at risk.
How long we keep it
We delete all information about your child, including recordings, scripts and audio, by 31 January. We keep your email address and payment records only for as long as the law requires for accounting.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. You can also complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
